• Another Question.

From Ozz Nixon@1:275/362 to All on Fri Feb 8 13:09:37 2019
    Hello everybody.

Many times when I am searching for FIDO implementation details, I end up on Synchronet's Wiki or WWIV's "Learn2" DOC (http://docs.wwivbbs.org/en/latest/).

My question is - I like the WWIV look, do not want to install that theme - and was curious to get input from others - is there another "docs" type of layout and look that is out there (I don't surf much ... so I look to others for input)... what is out there that looks professional?

    Regards,

    Ozz

Probably the best it to make an interface that is adaptable in looks.

what is out there that looks professional?

Have you tried to get ALL the FTSC documents there were and still are available to the public at many FidoNet BBS frequable or from InterNet DownLoadable.

    Greeting from Henri.

Thank you kindly! I appreciate everyone's feedback so far. I am still toying with ideas. One goal is to use a solution like WWIV and Synchronet - for the new QuickBBS code I am working on releasing the next 90+ days. I have spent months going through latest RA, SuperBBS, EleBBS, EzyBBS, Celerity, PCB, etc. and made a roadmap of what QBBS 2.801 supported vs. everything I needed to add.
For example, the rewrite of QCONFIG went from 341k to under 100k. Without compression tricks...

Legally got my code before Ben. Requirement was not to use QuickBBS as the name. However, after speaking with Ben, finding out he lost 2.90+ source... I debating on grabing the trademark and spinngin QuickBBS back up - synchronize the 2.9 changes to my 2.8 source - and release it.

However, my agreement with Steve was when my company bought the source was not to step on the QuickBBS Team's shoes. My code base is much smaller, as I droppped OPRO, APRO, OO, QWIK, etc. And replaced all of that cdoe with assembly. For example, QCONFIG was 341kb, mine is just under 100kb. Similar look, but, dropped all the (p)OOP. ;-)

I would have no heartache in co-authoring with Ben... last time (about a year ago+) we spoke - he didn't seem to care about the 16bit world forward. And since I wrote my own compilers - I didn't care to go Delphi or Free Pascal.

I still have a lot more screens to capture and document... however, as someone familiar with QBBS you should see a lot that looks like QCONFIG in EXSETUP. Excluding a few obvious variances, the TCP based code uses most of the same EXSETUP screens. Feedback welcome/wanted... ;-)

    one leading space per spec...

note also that it can be empty with only the leading " * Origin: " and the trailing "(z:n/node[.point][@domain])"...

(This year?) Wow, glad you survived! I replied via Netmail, but, I do not have my FMail 100% setup correctly. I look forward to helping you with the code changes in the PASCAL echo.
