    Hey Nancy!

And when/if you do, you'll have to report on it here... ;)

For sure. Don't hold your breath since it is harder to obtain then single malt
    scotches are.

Are they substantially less expensive than the Scotches....?

    Nope. The 10yo is about the same as the Macallan 10yo which is around 10 CAD greater than Glenlivet 12yo. You could always check it out for yourself at;

    https://www.glenoradistillery.com/store/

    Nice pictures of labels etc. and I noted that the 14yo label claims, "North America's First Single Malt Whisky", while the 10yo label states, "Canada's Only Single Malt Whisky". If the 10yo label is to be believed then all their single malts will have to represent how Canadian single malt whiskies stack up against the Scots. It looks like we only get one shot at it distillery-wise but they appear to have a healthy lineup. However;

    https://www.eater.com/drinks/2016/6/7/11739520/single-malt-whiskey-scotch-america

lists the top 12 American single malt whisky distilleries so perhaps youse have
    a better shot at it.

What did he think of the Gold...?

He liked it but agreed with me that the cheaper Glenlivet 12yo is the way to go
    all things considered.

He'll probably drop in after the 1st for a wee nip of the 15yo,
if he remembers you bought it... :)

Yes. It seems highly likely and I know I won't refuse him. He is a good neighbour and friend.

    Life is good,
    Maurice

    Nancy,

And I don't like the taste of beer at all... only one I've been able to NB>even get more than a sniff past my nose (even had a few ounces in NB>September), has been Smithwicks... which isn't exactly a beer anyway...
I finally figured out that it's the hops I detest.... :)

Not beer (I've never drank alcoholic beverages), but my late wife,
Janice, tried "Guiness Stout" once, and "didn't like it". She had a
bottle of Jamaica White Rum, but only used it to make a "Rum and Coke"
when she was ill...1% Rum and 99% Coke.

That does put a damper on it, then.. ;)

Possibly there could be another and the 10yo label just hasn't been
updated, but, yes, it does appear that they'd be the only game in town
so to speak... And keeping their price right up there, too.... ;)

    However; https://www.eater.com/drinks/2016/6/7/11739520/single-malt-whiskey-scot ch-america

Might be worth a try someday.... I hear that Japan has a respectable
    single malt now, too... ;)

What did he think of the Gold...?

He liked it but agreed with me that the cheaper Glenlivet 12yo is the
way to go all things considered.

Some things, the hype just isn't justified sufficiently... ;)

Yes. It seems highly likely and I know I won't refuse him. He is a
    good neighbour and friend.

And as long as you both keep it to a wee nip, there should be plenty to
save for a later occasion... ;)

Guiness Stout is still too close to beer for me.... I didn't like it, either.... ;)

She had a bottle of Jamaica White Rum, but only used it to make a
"Rum and Coke" when she was ill...1% Rum and 99% Coke.

That no doubt lasted quite a while... ;) Maybe even longer than my
single malt scotch that I only have a shot of for special occasions....
