    Sort of. My configuration for it is still active, and my system is still creating the nodelist for it (I'm the European ZC). But the nodelist is totally out of date. Basically only myself the Swedish and Dannish RC's are still connected, the rest is gone.

    Bye, Wilfred.

    Not here in Oz. Lack of participation and interest meant the echomail traffic (in all areas) dropped to about 1 message each month.

    The last nodelist was dated the 9th of March 2002. I don't even bother to fly my Amiganet address either.

    Cache Ya,

    Er, want to post a test message in SYSOP_AMY or somewhere? So I know this thing is on?

    (I just had to toggle some settings to reactivate you in my configuration)

    I just had to:

    * get new HDs
    * spend several days restoring the old BBS HD
    * decide the old A1200 is no longer suitable after 11 years in the job
    * repair my A4000D
    * buy a CS-PPC
    * spend several days debugging the machine and getting it all running
    * rewrite my configs now that I have no points or downlinks

    and then..

    * toggle a setting to say AmigaNet is back online

    :)

    You probably have to send me an updated region list though. I don't
    think the one from 2002 I'm using is totally up to date. ;)

    Just a guess for the moment, but I imagine it goes something like this:

    -- cut here --
    just me
    -- cut here --

    But I'll make sure it gets sorted properly.

    TKG is back, and back to stay. It's just had an extended downtime,
    that's all... and it's not disappearing ever again.

    Being without the BBS and Fido felt like loosing a limb.

    But I suppose there should be a disclaimer...

    "This BBS will run forever.

    DISCLAIMER: may not continue to run in the event of the end of the world, or the sysop going insane (more so than normal), or in the event of a giant spider attack."

    * repair my A4000D
    * buy a CS-PPC
    * spend several days debugging the machine and getting it all running
    * rewrite my configs now that I have no points or downlinks

    Wow, the dedication! ;)

    You must be really hooked on this thing!? ;-)

    and then..

    * toggle a setting to say AmigaNet is back online

    :)

    That was the easy part.

    You probably have to send me an updated region list though. I don't
    think the one from 2002 I'm using is totally up to date. ;)

    Just a guess for the moment, but I imagine it goes something like this:

    -- cut here --
    just me
    -- cut here --

    That would be the new list, yes...

    But I'll make sure it gets sorted properly.

    Looking forward to it. ;)

    TKG is back, and back to stay. It's just had an extended downtime,
    that's all... and it's not disappearing ever again.

    Optimist! ;-)

    Being without the BBS and Fido felt like loosing a limb.

    But I suppose there should be a disclaimer...

    "This BBS will run forever.

    DISCLAIMER: may not continue to run in the event of the end of the world, or the sysop going insane (more so than normal), or in the event of a giant spider attack."

    ... What about an alien attack? ;-)

    Bye, Wilfred.

    Looking at this:

    uptime
    18:29:23, 1 day 23:54, load: 0.13, 0.10, 0.00

    .. and the reboot that caused that was a power cut. I think three days perfect running proves the machine is running smoothly :)

    If he just wants to be a point go ahead, you don't need me.

    If he wants to be a node things get a bit complicated because he is in FidoNet zone 3 which has no equivallent in AmigaNet at the moment. I think it's a bit overdone to create a new zone for just one node (Or Lance must want to be ZC ? ;) ). So I think I will create a new global Region for every new node that wants to join anywhere in the world and doesn't want to be given the ZC, RC or NC status as well... ;)

    So that would be 41:300/360

    But I don't think it's necessary to resurrect Zone 41 just for you!? Or you must insist? ;)

    would prefer to do this via I/net transfer - running Argus here.

    I/net transfer will likely be the only option these days.
    I haven't even connected a modem to my computer anymore.
    Can Argus do binkp connections? Or do you prefer an email
    tunnel, or ftp maybe?

    Yep, can do binkp - but am fairly easy. If you can send me the current nodelist & echolist to my email addy - llyon at earthlink.com.au I can ge my system details back to you.

    It will be on it's way to you, shortly...

    Bye, Wilfred.

    That would have changed quite some time ago - at least 6 years now. With the demise back then of Logic Palace BBS, nobody had AmigaNet in Switzerland for quite some time.

    and ask if Amiganet is still going over there.

    Well, "going" isn't the right word. But it's still configured, and the nodelist is still produced weekly and send out. So it still exists! ;)

    Looks like we're in for some updates.

    Even when snoop was still running on Amiga, I often had better uptimes than that - the secret was that I had an UPS back then.

    You missed the point, I'd only built the machine a few days earlier and was testing reliability before opening the BBS.

    I've not had a non-power cut related reboot since then.

    Anyone else find that memory fragmentation is the worse issue with reliability? I'm getting around that by using hundreds of MB but that seems a lame fix..

    Hi Rene & Neil,
    Merry Christmas to yas! .<:)

    Recently installed SnoopDos 3.8 to chechout AmiGS problems. OS4 was updated in October'04 has been running great. Just downloaded - SimpleMail v0.24. It's MS Outlook imports and supports multiple accounts. A notch above Yam? Just finished creating a new A1-linux .iso for a upcoming Sarge installation. I can't wait to checkout how FireFox turned out. Muhahah...

    I've since moved to Linux - and get uptimes usually somewhere in the range of well more than 100 days, before some kernel vulnerability crops up.

    And, oh well, snoop got 2048 MB RAM, so your strategy might also work.

    i got digital signatures to work under linux, simply as i have java to get the cert file with encryption, now it works since i can import the cert file into all my computers, windows is not needed :)
