    Hi guys,

After 16 years, I've finally got myself an A2000 (well, A2500 actually, but
the processor card had already been sold seperately).

It has a Kickstart 2 rom installed, but I have already ordered a 3.1 rom for
it & also has an A2090 SCSI controller. Apart from that, it's a bog standard revision 4.4 mobo.

    Some questions :

What's the best option for a graphics card ? I want to connect directly to
an (s)vga monitor, rather than use my ageing 1081 (which is developing
    problems with the red pot).

What's the maximum capacity hard drive I can add ?

What options are available for network cards - I'd like to bring the machine into the windows workgroup here (3 XP Prp machines) ?

Also, for the time being at least, I can t/fer stuff direct from one of the PC's via null modem cable, however, one small problem - no terminal proggy
on the Amiga :-( Does anyone have a floppy containing such a beastie that they'd be willing to send ? (I'm in Oz, but would obviously be happy to pay postage & costs).

    cheers,

    Lance

    Hello "Lance.

Replying to a msg dated 23 Dec 03 08:04, from you to All.

Not at all an expert on it, I could be wrong, but I read an advert on eBay for someone selling one of these only a couple of days ago, and they said max harddisk capacity was 4GB.. Not sure if it's still there, but do a search on Amiga on ebay.com.au

Not sure if they are still available (and most certainly not new), but
I have been very happy with my Picasso IV.

again, not sure about availability, but the Ariadne II is working fine
    here.

its true as long we don't use sfs or nsd, remember 2 in the potence of 32 ?

if sfs or nsd is used we go to 2 in potence of 64 :-)

yes its true 2 in 64, still loving amiga, wow :-)

nsd is standard from os 3.5, before it was a addon to make "bigger" harddisk usable on os 3.1 and below, ffs is btw updated to nsd style, no problemo :)

My old 1081s has the same problem. The Picasso96.guide has a list of Gfx
cards that are supported, IIRC its' version 2.

I have a Merlin card that works real well with all the Nec and Proview
VGAs and a PicassoII, also very good. The A2K is dead right now. :-/

Just been trawlling eBay, there are graphics cards available, unfortunately, most are in the US & they won't deliver overseas :-) Bugger :-) I'll just
keep waiting. I have got one of the cute little Commodore VGA adapters on
the way from Germany, so this will have to suffice until I get a decent
card. Course, games will be problematical but no big deal.

The good news is, the 3.1 chip is in & working just fine & I've picked up a
ram expansion board with 8 mb installed, so the machine is slowly beig
brought up to a usable standard - next purchase is gonna be an accelerator board of some description - and yeah, some paint for the case, she's looking
    a little sad!

    cheers,

    Lance
