FidoNet International AMIGA Echo Conference Rules ************************************************************************

    [Revised November 2, 2003]

    PURPOSE

The International Amiga Echo Conference is intended to foster discussion of
ALL models of the Amiga computer system. This echo is intended as a source
of answers to questions users might have about the Amiga, and as a clearing house for new information about new Amiga products offered by Amiga Int'l
and by third party vendors. Hands-on reviews of such products are encour- aged, especially with hard facts and data. We invite everyone who uses the Amiga, or who is interested in the Amiga, to participate in this echo
through the friendly and helpful exchange of information.

    NOTE:

This echo is NOT bound by ECHOPOL1, ECROC, nor ANY OTHER form of
echo policy. The moderator is the ULTIMATE authority in this echo.
If you have a problem with the echo, do not go to the NEC or REC,
do not start a poll or take a vote, come to me. That's why I'm here.

The AMIGA Echo is the sole property of the moderator and not the
property of its participants. You agree that access to this echo
is a priviledge, not a right.

    - The Current Rules -

    1) Slamming of computers of any make is unneeded, unnecessary, and constitutes
"Excessively Annoying Behavior", as does slamming Operating Systems. It
will *not* be tolerated at all.

Slamming Commodore, the former owner of Amiga, is permitted. Just don't
    make a career of it.

    2) Discussions about copying software, stealing programs, hacking, or any
other illegal activity will be rewarded with a FEED CUT. Such actions
are rightfully against the goal of this echo and irritating to other
users. Although it is recognized that users need to make archival copies
of their programs, discussion of such here does nothing more than tempt
those who lack both discipline and character. Don't do it.

    3) Often a topic will become a dead horse and should be discontinued. To
continue to dwell on a dead topic again constitutes "Excessively Annoying
Behavior" and will be dealt with as they occur.

    4) Endless tirades of "My computer is better than yours ..." are unproductive
and will not be tolerated. This includes platform comparisons, which
usually end up as dead horse topics and are immensely annoying.

    5) All boards carrying this conference should display a valid FidoNet origin
line. This means that it should identify (Zone:Net/Node) at the end.
"Seen-bys" and "Path" lines should follow the origin line and precede a
single proper end-of-file mark. Systems in other networks (e.g. Alternet,
etc.) are welcome, but administrators should ensure there are no duplicate
rings created by importing this conference and a gateway system should be
designated. Contacting me before feeding this conference is not required.

    6) All users will use their real names, as nicknames and handles are not
allowed. If it is not possible to change the name you are registered under
your full name should be part of your signature.

    7) If there is a complaint about a user in this echo, a PRIVATE NETMAIL
message should be sent to the Moderator (see address below), and let the
*Moderator* do the Moderating. Messages sent via NetMail to the Moderator
will be dealt with; messages left in the echo will not. This will also
serve to cut down the litter of off-topic complaint messages and replies
to those complaints that tend to clutter the echo.
Users who clutter the echo with such argumentative messages will be
adjudicated as guilty of violating the rules of this echo as the first
offender(s) and are subject to the same punishments.

    8) This echo shall not be used by any individual or group to promote
repeatedly a commercial product or service, as it constitutes "Excessively
Annoying" behavior. One advertisement of a new product or service or product
upgrade is sufficient, although a representative may respond to queries
    from
other users, as often as is appropriate. "Conversations" that promote
products and/or services are included. In other words, NO INFO-MERCIALS.

    9) The official language of the Amiga echo is English. This is not meant to
discourage users in non-English speaking countries from posting messages.
All Amiga users or prospective Amiga users are welcome. This policy is
meant to prevent the inevitable confusion that would result.

    10) As this echo is intended as a source of information and assistance to our
fellow Amiga users, we expect each message to reflect this philosophy.
Personal attacks or improper language are forbidden. Messages should be
about Amiga personal computers, products for the Amiga, or Amiga
    operations.

    11) Signatures are limited to no more than three lines. This to keep the
intervening link systems' expenses down. In addition, "high ASCII" (ANSI)
characters are not permitted. While modern systems can display them, it's
not true of all, and ANSI has crashed systems before.

    12) Violators of the rules will usually receive a NETMAIL message informing
them of their infractions and a copy will be sent to their sysop. The
behavior must cease immediately and the notice shall constitute a warning
    of possible disciplinary action.

Violators will have "Three Strikes." Afterwards, suspension of their echo
access privilige will ensue, for a minumum of two weeks, up to a maximum
of six months. After the maximum penalty, a violator will be deemed
    beyond
    hope and banned for life.

    13) If you *must* post off topic, make sure the post is funny and short.
Flirting with the Moderator is occasionally considered to be on topic.
    Just don't over-do it.

    14) Please quote only enough to remind participants of what was previously
said. It is not necessary to quote headers, origin lines, kludges,
    paths or signature lines.
Quoting well is considered good etiquette. Please only quote what you
feel is neccessary for the receiving person to understand what the
    message is about.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM QUOTING FULL MESSAGES WHEN REPLYING TO MAIL.

    15) The Moderator reserves the right to modify these rules at any time.

Any issues with the above rules should be addressed in netmail or email.
