• Downloads? Zmodem CRC problems

From Steve Palm@1:19/38 to Tim Grooms on Sun Dec 30 15:52:39 2018
    Hi!

This is probably not your problem, but wondering if you had any tips.

Trying to download on an Amiga 1200 with a WiModem232. I tried using the
Term program and JR-Comm. ZModem. I have handshaking turned on, and I
tried 19200 and 57600 baud rates.

    I keep getting CRC errors.

I have downloaded using this setup, but I don't think from this system.
I will go try a few others and see what I run into.

    Thanks for running the BBS!
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

I have a Wimodem232 myself. I have always had problems with errors and timing out when calling Amiga boards, mine included. I have tried everything I could think of contacted the guy who makes them. He gave a couple of suggestions but they didn't work for me. File transfers work fine for people using an ethernet connection to call in, myself included so I am not sure what to do to fix the problem while using the Wimodem232. Sorry.
    Thanks for calling the board.

Z-modem isn't built to run over TCP/IP. Try X-modem or Y-modem instead. It *will* work with Z-modem but it will take tons of time.

Thanks for the reply. I tried a few other systems with success, so it is strange. No worries, though, there are other options. I bought a 3C589 card off eBay, and then found I had a 3C562 as well as the several incompatible 100M cards. But I was able to get in through telnet and download the file.

    Have a great day!

I tried all three on this system, including the various YModem versions I had, nothing worked, although they did work on another BBS. So it could be some strange mixture between my connection and how the remote telnet-BBS bridge is configured... I dunno. Not a huge problem I guess, just strange.

    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

I'm using the same card in my 1200 to run the board and on my 600 to call in with from remote. Never seem to have any problems as long as it's an ethernet connection.

Glad you were able to get the file you needed. I'm going to put more files up one of these days as I get time.
