Was able to successfully able to get this version of BBBS installed under AmigaSYS 4 running under the Amiga Forever emulation package. However, when
I go to start bbbsd to listen for telnet connections, I get a "Can't socket()
socket" error message. I was wondering if there was a way to get bbbsd to start up properly.

I run CNet Amiga 5.21a on the Amiga Forever emulation package and
haven't had a
socket problem. However, there was a trick we had to do with the serial.device to get it to work. You might check out the support forum for CNet at Future World II bbs. Find the telnet address for that bbs
at cnetbbs.net
Yeah, just logged into FW2 a few moments ago. I might see about giving CNet a try and seeing how well it works. Which emulated machine are you running it on?

Running CNet 5.21b on WinUAE under A4000 68040, runs fast and probably better then it would have on real hardware. My next step is updating it
to a PPC emulation to get just a bit more speed out of it. I have found AMiga Forever is nice for getting started and getting back into the
Amiga side of things, and to own the roms, but once you are up to
speed, WinUAE is the way to go. There is so much you can do with
WinUAE.. On FW2 there is a guide to installing CNet in WinUAE.. It's
for the beginner but is a good refresher for the seasoned person too.

I'm using 68020 instruction set. I absolutely love Amiga Forever as I
can use a windows laptop to remote into my desktop computer and Alt-Tab
to the AmigaOS desktop and play my Amiga stuff from a hotel room!
Yeah, now if there were documentation on how to use the "roms" in Amiga Forever in WinUAE (if that is even possible).
Yeah, I installed a copy of that and C64 Forever on my laptop so I can carry that with me :)

Amiga Forever 7 PLus edition currently on sale for $5, along with aWow, that's awesome, thanks for sharing! I always wanted to try it out. It happened to be pretty cool, with lots of software, demos and even workbench preinstalled.

Yes, I know WinUAE is free and running inside Amiga Forever, but $5

Newer version of Amiga Forever? Sweet.

Now I just need to figure which OS under Amiga Forever to run this :) CNet/5
that is.
