• Connect modem to FS-UAE?

From Joacim Melin@2:203/242 to All on Sun Sep 11 18:33:06 2016
    Hi all,

As I'm forced to run my BBS in a emulated Amiga for time being, I'm wondering if there is any way to have the Amiga access the psysical RS-232-port on the PC that's running Ubuntu and FS-UAE.

it is generally up to the settings of the VM as to whether or not access to real hardware is provided... if your VM software has some place where you can set up the virtual machine to access real hard drives, set the amount of memory, how many CPUs and such, you may be able to "add new hardware" pointing to the physical serial port on the physical machine /if/ that serial port is recognised by the physical machine's configuration and its OS sees it...

It's FS-UAE and I am yet to find any setting for RS-232. I used to run the BBS with Amiga Forever, which supports RS-232 but had other issues such as the emulated Amiga loosing it's network connection after a few hours.

i've given all i can... i'm used to QEMU/KVM and how it operates in my installation... i think there is actually a QEMU-UAE module but i've not looked for it or attempted to do anything Amiga oriented in a virtual machine...

I would try asking at the FS-UAE support forum at http://eab.abime.net/forumdisplay.php?f=122

Frode (the FS-UAE guy) is usually active there.
