• Looking for Drive Doctor

From Keith Matthews@3:712/620 to All on Mon Jul 12 21:37:20 2010
    Hi All,

Would you believe it My DH2: partition backup has failed me and I have lost my backups of 2 amiga programs which I find very usefull. Especially given the age of the H/W.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of

    Drive Doctor and Memory Doctor.

They were GUI based Scan/test programs for drives 7 memory circa 1990 I think.

    Thanks

    Hi Frank,

Yeah I tried Aminet. It is not there. i did find another prg called diskmate there, but its not as good as Drive Doctor. 8-(

I managed to slavage a copy of Memory Doctor of another floppy that I found, but the floppy had validation errors and the copy of Drive Doctor that was on it was corrupt. Still not bad after 20+ years. 8-)

cli based is not that bad, remember disk-doctor ? :)

i have some partions and harddisk i need to have salved to another disk when i get my a4000t stable :(

will take out the cyberstorm ppc and put in a 3640 card and begin with that to make a stable os3.9 install and when it rooks again then replace the 3640 with cyberstorm again, lots of floppy disks wont work with cyberstorm by default :/

and a amiga workbench 2.1 floppy wont load in kickstart 3.1, loadwb gives no gui

    Hello Keith!

    Hi Benny,

Would you believe it My DH2: partition backup has failed me and I have lost my backups of 2 amiga programs which I find very usefull. Especially
given the age of the H/W.

newer make backup localy on a computer that could die anytime, make it remotely

The backup was on 42 Diskettes, using Quaterback 5.1. Which was a brilliant peice of
Backup SW for its day 8-)

Does anyone happen to have a copy of
    Drive Doctor and Memory Doctor.

    disksalv ?

Discsalv doesn't quite do what I want. What I need to do is check all the 200 or so .adf images
I have made of my disks over the last year. Drive Doctor was really good at doing that.

They were GUI based Scan/test programs for drives 7 memory circa 1990

cli based is not that bad, remember disk-doctor ? :)

Yeah, but I really liked Drive Doctor.
    8-)

Disksalv is the way to go there for sure. I found another very good prg on aminet called
    Diskmate.

Do you mean floppy based classic amiga games?
Yeah thats not surprising. I never had the luck of getting a ppc card 8-(
But the Natami Project looks like its about ready to go into production soon so
that will be perfect for running classic Amiga stuff on.

and a amiga workbench 2.1 floppy wont load in kickstart 3.1, loadwb gives no gui

Thats Odd, I was pretty sure WB 2.04 would load under KS 3.1. I'll have to check

yep i know that program also here

Discsalv doesn't quite do what I want. What I need to do is check all
the 200 or so .adf images I have made of my disks over the last year.

    oh

    mount -o loop -t affs imagefile.adf /mountpoint

    ls -lhr /mountpoint/

viola (just need amiga support in kernel)

Drive Doctor was really good at doing that.

okay i still wonder how aminet checking virus for amiga, might be the linux mount trick ?

Yeah, but I really liked Drive Doctor. 8-)

yep hope the source will come up to aminet, i got the complete xenolink sources, but lost it before i got it ready for aminet :(

Disksalv is the way to go there for sure. I found another very good
    prg on aminet called Diskmate.

i will warn about make changes inplace even with disksalv, it must be the latest v4 of disksalv, v3 and lover have a number of bugs that trash filesystem even worse then not a dos disk, atleast this is not rdb loose but if its system partion one is loost

Do you mean floppy based classic amiga games?

have some disk yes, mostly from magasines that have some games each

Yeah thats not surprising. I never had the luck of getting a ppc card
    8-(

i got this one from a fellow xenolink user/sysop, he sold his a3000t aswell to another friend, damm i would have taked this one to, if i had known it in time, but okay i got a a4000t now :)

But the Natami Project looks like its about ready to go into
production soon so that will be perfect for running classic Amiga stuff on.

yep, as the natami is designed the a1000 should really have being that in the start, who needs another computer with that ?, the more i have readed about what being done the worse it got with ppc boards, and its got so expensive not to bay one of them

Thats Odd, I was pretty sure WB 2.04 would load under KS 3.1. I'll
    have to check

yes will also have to check why one more time here, on another amiga i have
