• Any Solar Realms Elete players?

Are there any very knowledgeable Solar Realms Elete players out there?

I'm considering starting a project to write an Mystic MPL clone of SRE. Since the code to SRE was lost, I was thinking of reverse engineering it. I've
done similar projects with Virtual Sysop III and Space Dynasty Elete, so I figured it wouldn't be too far a stretch to recreate a lost classic. The
only problem is I do not have an in-depth knowledge of the game. That is why I'm looking for outside help from somebody who is more knowledgeable.

    Any takers?

Hi Gryphon, I use to play it quite a bit, back then this web page helped me understand the game greatly.. http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~amitp/Articles/SRE-Documentation.html

That would be a nice addition. :)

Hmmm, I'd like to take a look at those. Written in the MPL language? I'm running Mystic on a 64 bit computer so I'd like to try those. Where can one get the files?

Unfortunately I'm not a programmer or even close but I would make a decent beta tester. :)

    I haven't released them. I don't think I converted VS3 to MPL. I didn't
think that there was that much demand for it. I did start a new MPL game called "Anonymous", which is basically a player plays as a hacker for the
group "Anonymous" and has numerous increasing levels of tasks to do to gain status and standing in the group. But my game designed made it look like a simple knockoff of VS3.

I did convert Space Dynasty Elite to MPL and it is playable on Cyberia. I haven't released it because I don't think it is ready for it yet. I've found a number of bugs that keep needing to be squashed.

After comparing SRE to my SDE, I'm finding that there are considerable differences. The large number of types of planets and the way the different types factor into the player income and such is quite confusing. At least
with SDE, there's only 3 planet types and it makes things so much easier.

If you can suss out the tax and income algorithms, it's help me a great deal.

I guess the other option is I could just expand my SDE to include more
    planets and game features.
