Which is better? Mis or Mis2? Which one do you favor? Why?

Currently I'm using Mis.....but want to check out Mis2.

I know for a while Mis 2 didn't support everything that Mis does so I am interested in knowing if that has changed as well. Guess it's time to take a look at the What's New...

MIS2 I believe currently supports separate IP banning settings per server, which MIS does not (when an IP is banned, it bans on all servers). I believe it

Right now, I'm using mis2 for the telnet connections and mis for the binkp connections. I was chatting with Pequito recently and he told me that mis2 doesn't supports events. If mis2 is going to replace mis, I would think it would do everything that mis does...but better with more options.

I've noticed that MIS2 handles the telnet connections much faster than MIS.

That is correct, unless the latest alpha has added them in. I was using Mis2 for everything except events and Mis for those. Had some issues with it freezing so I dropped back to just Mis.

I just saw on FSX net that MIS2 does not support events yet. When g00r00
gets events included, MIS will go away.

Yep that's correct MIS is the event's go-to for now and not MIS2 ... have a feeling that's going to change soon :)

So far, with MIS2 running the telnet server and MIS running the BINKP server, I've had zero problems...knock on wood.

Watch, now that I've said that, it'll bugger up on me :/

Yep that's correct MIS is the event's go-to for now and not MIS2 ...

As far as I know Mystic happily handles connections from unknown Bink systems so long as the Binkp server setting has 'allow unsecure' set to 'yes'

It's also a good idea (IMHO) to have 'force cram-md5' set to 'No' as that can hinder the ability for another system to connect.

I tend to set cram-md5 at individual echonode levels.

I don't even think that option should be there, to be honest. Too many people seem to not have a clue as to what it really means.

Yes you can receive unsecured connections if you have allow unsecured connections set to Yes. You can also fidopoll any address that is in the nodelist for unsecured exchanges so it works both ways

As for the second part, is there somewhere (while posting the message) to set the netmail's attributes to say "Direct" so that when you would use "fidopoll send" it would send the netmail directly to that node number if they're not setup in your config (of course, they would have to be nodelisted for that to be possible)?
