Lateral thinking is the thinking of things "outside the box." It is looking
at a problem from an expanded point of view; trying to consider other possibilities of solving a problem. In Sp00k warfare, when getting trained people are tested on their lateral thinking abilities. Sometimes its as
simple as requesting an instructor to be quiet while you are writing a test
or moving a table close to you while you are writing an exam, finding ways
and means to help your ability at performing your task. It might be using
your fingers for quick calculations, even when doing so looks foolish. It is the cooperation with other students on getting a problem accomplished. You
can find books online about "lateral thinking" and you can see just how much you really need to consider lateral thinking as its not as easy or natural as it sounds.
