Have you ever wondered "where do these freaks come from?" Well, the fact is that informants and spooks were once young people. They weren't born spies. Rather, they were groomed, often by their parents and family to continue the family business. When one thinks of secret societies they think of a bunch
of elite recruits, however in reality intelligence aparatus'are much like secret societies. However repulsive it may seem of parents to groom their children to work in the Intelligence Community this is how it often works. There are also books being focused on children, promoting the practice of spying to young kids. Once such book is Lonely Planet's "How to Be An International Spy." It is a very well informed book; I've bought it myself out of curiousity and its like a 101 college course in terms of its all-around detailed descriptions of trade craft. So if you're a teacher in high school or even sometimes elementary schools you will most probably be teaching an informant among the student body. I understand that countries need intelligence services to help prevent terrorism and organized crime, however I see it as being crossing a line to recruit children into an adult occupation. Kids are mostly innocent and I dislike anything that would corrupt them at an early age. Kids needs to be kids and not informants. They were rumored to have made around $500 USD per two weeks as informants while they were in high school scouting out the scene. I just find it repulsive to expose innocents into a job that deals with all sorts of unsavory types and corrupting them by them being allowed to commit crime and have it considered allowable for
the "greater good" so that they would look like criminals themselves and fit
in more to their role as informant. Where I live informants are given freedom to use marijuana (long before it was legal) and other non-hard drugs to make them look like one of the guys/girls. One situtation was a group of two girls who worked at busting variety stores who sold cigarettes to minors. They had a good reputation at doing that and were recruited into the IC. They looked around twelve, however they must have been forteen as I can't imagine the IC being completely depraved --- though I might be wrong. I have nicknamed these sorts of spies as "Sp00k Tots" One thing to remember is that just because an authority figure says that they are needed to prevent crime, does not mean that that authority figure knows whats best. You need to think for yourself and not be recruited with the allure of money and being a participant of the secret society that is the IC. If you want to be an analyst I see nothing wrong with that, its just that kids should be kids not weapons in an intelligence war.

My thoughts. Your's may differ. Cultures differ greatly from society to society---lets hope that you live in a place where innocence is respected,
not the corrupting forces of money, drugs, and lies.
