• PCI Modem

I am looking for a PCI slot modem to pop in my Windows 10 tower to try and add a dial-up connection for my BBS. Does anyone have one sitting around that is willing to mail it to me? I have an extra phone line to dedicate to the BBS and want to offer the option of dialing in.

Mind you I will be attempting this behind WinUAE to my emulated Amiga BBS.

I am doing the same thing Spitfire, except the Amiga board I am going to put
up will not have a dialup, the Wildcat! Or Image 64 in VICE will be a dialup board.. I have been trying to track down my USR v.everything but couldn't
find it but found a Agere WinModem in my closet and tossed it in a different box.. What gets me is when I look back at all the hardware I tossed in the garbage it makes me sick because I never knew I would want it again!

I may buy one on Amazon, but I was hopping someone wanted to toss one away in my direction! lol But I know just what your saying. I still have some old cards for a PC. Like an ATI Vedio Card with a TV turner built into it.

I went through my closet the other day looking for my USR v.Everything (Still can't find it since I moved back in 2015) and found 4 video cards, ranging
from regular PCI to PCIe, I found a 13.6gig HD (What can someone do with a 13.6gig HD today?!?!?!?!) I found memory chips from my first 486DLC, the only good that came out of my trek into the closet was I found an old mother board which was fried that had 4gigs of DDR3 memory which I tossed into a machine I found in someones garbage (I have a bad habit of stopping traffic when I see
a computer in the garbage and I pick it up) which I am going to use as the
dial up box since it is the only 1 other then my daily runner and my
server that has a PCI slot in it. I have now found in people's garbage a Dual Core 2.0ghz machine with 4gigs of ram (my neighbors garbage, gave her back
the HD because she didn't understand that people could get any personal info from it that might still be on it) and a i3 3.2ghz with 4gigs of RAM and no
HD. I put a 750gig HD and the extra 4gigs of RAM in it and installed Windows for now. Gotta love Dell and their USB download of the original software that comes on a computer, this thing came with Win 7 Home Premium, I downloaded it installed it legally, installed Win 10 upgrade and the system runs great! I can't understand why people throw out perfectly good computers!!

I think I tossed any drives or memory I had laying around. Not much left. A Sound Card and Video card I hung onto, but no modem. I think it would
of been a challenge to get an emulated CNet/5 BBS to answer on a PCI slot modem on the Win 10 PC I have it running on.

I'm gonna try getting WildCat! 4.22 to answer on a PCI modem via a VM of DOS 6.22 in theory it should work fine.. We'll see, first I want to get
Excelsior! running in a VM of Windows with UAE..

I could still use a modem for my other tower. This new tower I have had one built in. So now RoF has Dial-Up!

I was wondering why this old post showed up on my feeds again. I have a Modem now and Dial-up on my C-Net BBS is working. Not sure what system let this old stuff go again.
