• Amiga on the Pi3

So I looked into getting the Amiga (AMIBIAN) running on the Pi3. I was successful. I got Workbench 3.1 running on AMIBIAN 1.4

Now I am wondering if it's possible to use the Pi3's TCP/IP stack to be able to connect out similar to hosting tcpser I am doing on another PI3 to emulate a modem serial connection.

Cool, I played around with my Pi3 and got OS 3.9 working on it but have not tested it further.

I'm currently thinking about getting another Pi3 for this. I have 2 already doing things, and really want to experience an amiga, as we always had IBM growing up.

OS 3.9. I have the ISO somewhere. I was thinking of working to try and put
it on the Pi3. I have a MiST with the Amiga cores on and it runs great. That's one of the machines I use with tcpser to dial out with 'term' for the Amiga. The ANSI looks awesome on it.

I have been working on setting Amibian with OS 3.9 up on the Pi3. I am about 98% there.
to learn more about the UAE envrironment I first installed it on Windows 10.
In fact. I am typing this with my Amiga OS 3.9 emulation using term.
I had to install telser to get a tcpip serial port, but it seems to be working.

I need to figure out a couple of issues on the Pi3 though. For one on term
and any other terminal program that I have tested when I click a menu it will bring it up and bring up a sub menu, but if I need to change a setting within one of those menus the menus just go away.

    i'm close....

What version of amiga are you running? 500, 1200 or higher? I was looking to play games on the amiga since I never got to experience them when I was
younger and it seems that 1200 seems to be the most compatible.

Running the AGA core for Amiga 1200. it is pretty stabile so far. I did try the Amiberry load as well which is based on the DietPi distribution. It took
a bit more to setup and it did not seem to run near as fast as the Amibian.
If you have a Pi3 then I would say go for it.

I also did not have the luxury of having an Amiga although I would have liked to have one. I think i wanted them all, Ti, Atari, Amiga... I was lucky enough to have a fully expanded TI system (which I still have today and it still runs!)

My first real experience with anything Amiga based, was just about 2 years
ago when I purchased a MiST FPGA. It is a very slick machine. I have it hooked up to one of my Pi3's which host a tcpser so it can be used to dial
out and connect to telnet based BBS'.

I'm definitely going to in the future. I have 2 Pi3's that are dedicated to other projects. So at some point I'll grab another to run Amibian. I at least can have a taste of Amiga on my main PC running WinUAE.

So, i was able to get the 'term' program working on the Pi3. I did not make any change to any settings, but this morning I had a thought. I was
wondering if it could be because there was not a config/prefs file yet on the Pi3. Although WINUAE did not care and I could change settings.

So, i took the current term.prefs from my working WINUAE and transferred it over to the Pi3, and BAM! I can now access all the menus just like it is supposed to happen. I am on the Pi3 right now typing this message.

First I thought I would hex edit the file, then noticed there was not a file yet. So, a copy needed to be done... It should not work this way, but there is definately some differences on the Pi version of UEA4ARM than WINUAE. So far this is one of the only ones I have found.

I'm glad I got it working...

Right on! Good work, when I get to purchasing another Pi3 and get it up and running I'll probably hit you up for help.

Sounds like a plan. I thought it was quite an accomplishment since I am Amiga-Challenged. It's taken some getting used to, but I can see how many people really liked this machine.
